Introductory Walks
Non-members are welcome to participate in one introductory walk (C walk or low level walk)
as a guest. Only registered club members are permitted to participate on A or B walks. New or
inexperienced hillwalkers are strongly advised to begin on C walks with the club.
Proper footwear and clothing etc. is essential and a packed lunch is
advisable, please visit our equipment page
for guidelines. Proper gear is absolutely essential for walks in the winter months.
No denims or trainers may be worn on club hillwalks. Anyone who takes part in an introductory
walk and who is not a member of Mountaineering Ireland must complete and sign a
disclaimer form. Download one (here)
and hand the completed form to the leader on the day of the walk.
Alternatively, the walk leader will complete one with you on the day
of the walk.
Subsequent walks
While non-members can participate as guests on one initial walk,
they must become club members or be registered with Mountaineering
Ireland for subsequent walks for insurance purposes. Non-members
must submit their membership fee prior to participating on a
second walk. New members are welcome to join the Sunday walks once they
have appropriate boots and clothing and have a reasonable level of fitness. New members are advised to
participate in a Grade C walk first. No previous hillwalking experience is required for the
Low Level Saturday walks.
All non-members must abide by the club rules
when participating in walks organised by the club.
Social Events
The club has an active social calendar, with a club Christmas dinner every year and a summer barbeque,
weather permitting!
